Butterflies in the Wind” is a series of mixed media pieces combining acrylic brushstrokes on canvas and plastic appliques. Dr. Chiu was inspired watching the butterflies alight in his flower garden during the summers on Fire Island Pines. For the artist, butterflies represent the vision of ephemeral beauty: young beautiful bodies on the beach and the eternal cycle of life, growth, and, eventually, death.
